MS. ERIN LORENZ (Head Director) is a Maryland native, born and raised in Bowie. At last count, Erin has performed, choreographed, or directed around 40 productions. She graduated from Towson University (2006) with a Bachelor’s in English/Secondary Education and a minor in Theater. More recently, she earned a Master of Arts in Theater Education from the Catholic University of America in 2011. She taught middle school English for seven years in Montgomery County where she also directed the school’s spring musical; in her remaining spare time, she also participates in community theater productions.
MR. BEN KORBELAK (Technical Director)
Mr. Korbelak, or Kip as the children say, graduated from UMBC (‘15) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Minor in Theater and a Secondary Education Certificate. He himself is an alumnus of Annapolis High School who is now a Mathematics teacher, technical director, and improv troupe supervisor. Mr. Korbelak has appeared in many shows on and behind the stage over the past 10+ years, including several here at AHS such as The Wizard of Oz, The Wedding Singer, and Guys and Dolls. Mr. Korbelak would like to thank his family and close friends for continuous support in his endeavors to teach and still learn, and the friends and teachers from his time (Then and now) at AHS that continue to influence his life for the better today.
MS. LAURA HACKETT (Vocal Music Director/Thespian Advisor)
Ms. Hackett hails from Fairfax County, Virginia. She has been involved with theater and music her entire life and was even in the inaugural Cappies class during her high school years. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro ('07), where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a double major in music. She later earned her Masters of Education from The University of Maryland ('12). She is the faculty sponsor of the Thespians Society in addition to being a Summer Bridge Program teacher, a coach for the Unified Bowling Team, and an Evening High School teacher here at AHS. In her spare time, Ms. Hackett enjoys snuggling her dog and two chinchillas, crafting, and buying more brightly colored office supplies than she’ll ever use.
MS. ARIEL BREIDENBAUGH (Pit Director)
A newcomer to Annapolis High School and the A-High Drama Company team, Ms. Breidenbaugh (“Ms.B”) grew up in northern Harford County and graduated from Towson University (’17) with her Bachelor of Science in Instrumental Music Education. She currently teaches percussion ensemble and various general music courses at AHS. Ms. B’s primary instruments are the clarinet and bass clarinet, and she has performed with the Endless Mountain Music Festival Orchestra, the TU Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra, as well as in various local ensembles as a substitute musician. When she’s not making music with the A-High Panther Pit Band, Ms. B can be found playing her clarinet, exploring her new home of Annapolis, and making her students groan at terrible jokes. She is so grateful for the opportunity to assist with Anything Goes and The Drowsy Chaperone, and incredibly proud of the pit for all their hard work, break a leg!
